Dr Kate Engelke – Company Secretary
Dr Kate Engelke brings a wealth of insight into the experiences of junior doctors in regional Queensland. Dr Engelke is currently Principal House Officer at the Townsville University Hospital. Dr Engelke completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2015, and has since demonstrated her passion for doctors’ health with a founding role as Company Secretary and Director on the QDHP Board, and as a member and previous secretary of the Management Committee of the Doctors’ Health Advisory Service (QLD). As a result, Dr Engelke brings valuable experience in leadership and governance, combined with a firm interest in doctors’ health.
Dr Engelke’s commitment to the broader medical community is apparent in her appointment as an Adjunct Lecturer at James Cook University in Townsville, and has presented at a variety of conferences, including the myPHN conference (2018), Australian Doctors’ Health Conference (2017). Additionally, Dr Engelke been an invited speaker on doctors’ health at the AMA Junior Doctors’ Conference (2018), the DHAS(Q) GP-On Call Panel Education Session (2015) and at various university medical student orientation programmes.
She brings knowledge of current junior medical officer issues and expertise and insight around working in a regional hospital to the board. Aside from her interests in doctors’ wellbeing, Dr Engelke is an avid leatherworker.
