Spike in calls to doctor helpline

Support programs like the Queensland Doctors Health Program have noted a marked increase in practitioners reaching out for help over the past year.

They operate a confidential independent helpline for doctors and medical students across the state.

Medical Director Jennifer Schafer said many doctors felt they had been forced to sacrifice a piece of themselves as they worked longer hours to meet the growing community need.
